Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 February 2026
BatteryWiz ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information across our mobile and desktop applications (the "App") and our website at batterywiz.app (the "Website").
1. Our Privacy-First Approach
BatteryWiz is designed with privacy at its core. All energy optimisation computations run entirely on your device. We do not operate backend servers that process or store your personal data.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be transparent about what we do not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, address)
- Energy consumption or generation data
- Precise or coarse location data
- Usage analytics, telemetry, or behavioural tracking
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking information
3. Information We May Process
3.1 Local Device Identifier
The App generates a random identifier (GUID) that is stored only on your device. It is used solely for trial management and is never transmitted to us unless you explicitly submit a bug report.
3.2 Support & Feedback Submissions
If you contact us via the support form on our Website, the information you voluntarily provide (such as your message content) is stored in our database so we can respond. We do not require an email address or account to submit feedback.
3.3 Bug Reports & Diagnostics
If you choose to submit a bug report from within the App, it bundles local log files and metadata including:
- App version and build number
- Platform, OS version, and device model
- The local device identifier described above
This data is only shared when you explicitly initiate the export. We use it solely to diagnose and fix issues.
4. Third-Party Services
The App connects only to the third-party services that you explicitly configure. These may include inverter cloud platforms (to read system state and send control commands) and solar forecast providers (to retrieve production estimates based on your configured system location).
In all cases, data is exchanged directly between your device and the third-party service. We do not act as an intermediary or store any of this data on our servers. Each service operates under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them.
5. Website
5.1 Analytics
Our Website uses Google Analytics (via the Firebase JS SDK) to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, session duration, approximate geographic region, and browser/device type. This helps us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users and sessions. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings.
We do not use advertising trackers, social media pixels, or any other third-party tracking scripts.
5.2 Cookies
The only cookies set by our Website are from Google Analytics:
_ga & _ga_*
Distinguish unique users and sessions
These cookies are only set if you accept analytics via the cookie consent banner. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings.
5.3 Hosting & Server Logs
Our Website is hosted on Google Cloud / Firebase. As with any web host, standard server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, and timestamp) may be collected automatically by the hosting infrastructure. We do not access or process these logs for tracking purposes.
6. In-App Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Google Play or the Microsoft Store, depending on your platform. We do not have access to your payment details, billing address, or financial information.
7. Data Retention
- Support submissions: retained for as long as necessary to resolve your query, then deleted.
- Bug reports: retained for up to 12 months to assist with ongoing development, then deleted.
- Local device data: remains on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data.
8. Your Rights
Because we collect minimal data, there is very little personal information for us to manage. However, if you have submitted a support request or bug report and wish to have that data deleted, please contact us and we will action your request promptly.
Under applicable data protection laws (including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of any personal data we hold about you.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any information we do process. Data in transit is encrypted via TLS, and our database access is restricted by security rules.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
11. Contact
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please reach out via our support form.
